Rev. James Chinery

Senior Administrative Pastor

Rev. James Chinery is Senior Pastor at St. Martin in Birch Run and has been serving the good people of Birch Run since December 2010. Prior to accepting the Call at St. Martin, Pastor Chinery served as Senior Pastor at First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain, Michigan for 4 1/2 years.

A native of Saginaw, MI, he received his B.S. in Biology from Alma College, M.S. in Physical Education from Eastern Illinois University, M.S. in Occupational Therapy from the University of Indianapolis, and his M.Div. from Luther Seminary in 2006. Before entering seminary, Pastor Chinery worked as an occupational therapist.

In 2009, he began the pastoral colloquy process from the ELCA to the LCMS and was approved in May of 2010. Rev. Chinery is the author of two novels, a musician, an expert fisherman, and a frequently unsuccessful hunter. He lives in Frankenmuth, MI with his wife Beth and their three children, Ruth, Ivan, and Roxane. He is honored and blessed to serve God, the LCMS, and the people of St. Martin Lutheran Church.

Randy Bickel

Director of Family Life & Youth Ministries

Since August of 2006, Randy has been blessed to be serving our Lord in this role with God’s people here in the Birch Run area. His focus in these ministries has been learning from and sharing God’s Word and its lessons with all ages of the congregation and community.

Prior to St. Martin, Randy served God in similar ministries at Christ the King, Sebewaing and Unionville. Before that, Randy taught in the classrooms of Christ the King, Southgate and St. Paul, Royal Oak. He is a graduate of Concordia University in Ann Arbor, Michigan. God has truly blessed him through his wife, Carol, and their four children: Amelia, Madeline, Joseph, and Matthew.

Randy's hope is that you can join him and all of us here at St. Martin Lutheran Church in growing in our relationship with our God and His children!

 
 

Jennifer Koch

St. Martin’s church secretary

Jennifer received her Associate Degree and Program Award of Applied Science in March 2013 and her Bachelor Degree of Human Services in June 2015. She gained foundational knowledge and understanding about human development and needs. She learned about different environmental conditions that would help or hinder optimal functioning in human development; also the understanding how to create the necessary conditions to achieve best case outcomes for the client by providing the necessary resources/services.

For 20 years Jennifer was self-employed (Jennifer Koch’s Family Child Care), 10 years her and her husband Scott were licensed foster parents for Tuscola, Bay, Huron, Saginaw, and Genesee Counties; and for 9 years she was a Millington Planning Commission Board Member and Secretary. Scott and Jennifer have been blessed with amazing children and grandchildren: Kyle (who is married to his wife Florence and together they have two amazing children named Jayce and Maliah), Austin, Jake, Degrick, Aiden, Isaac, and Zi’Kaira.

 
 
REVARD, Stephanie; Dir. of Music.jpg

Stephanie Revard is our Director of Worship Arts & Technology here at St. Martin. A former Lutheran elementary school teacher and Director of Christian Education turned parish musician, Stephanie sings, plays piano, organ, flute, and guitar. She joined the St. Martin Staff in September 2016.

Stephanie loves reading, travel, movies, music and comedy. She and her husband Rob have two teenagers, Leah and Noah, and three cats who maintain a position of authority over their humans.

Stephanie has a heart for reaching the lost with the love of Jesus, especially by music that focuses on God’s Word and His promises for our lives.

Kayla Schneeberger is the Director of Peace of Mind Child Development Center here at St. Martin. She started at Peace of Mind in 2018 as the Toddler Lead Teacher, and then accepted the position as Director in 2019.

Kayla is from Cass City, Michigan, and received her Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education in March 2017. Before working at Peace of Mind, she was the Toddler Lead Teacher at Campbell Daycare and Preschool for four years.

Kayla is very family-oriented and loves spending time with children. She recently gotten engaged to Nathan. They have been together for three years and have a dog named Noah. When Kayla is not at work, she enjoys re-doing antiques.
